Anal fissure

An anal fissure is a split in the lining of the anal canal which won't heal by itself. It causes severe pain on defecation with persistence of pain for some time afterwards. Spotting of blood often accompanies it.

I find that many people suffer this very painful and debilitating condition for far too long before I see them. There is no doubt that surgical treatment is most effective and rapidly leads to a resolution of symptoms.

This link provides (very!) detailed information about the condition. Again, the most appropriate treatment for you will be discussed in detail.
